(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND SUSPENSION OF TRAFFIC AND USE) ORDER 2019

PRIDE IN LEEDS PARADE & EVENT

SUNDAY 4th AUGUST  2019

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that that Leeds City Council as traffic authority for the Leeds Metropolitan District, has today made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as inserted by Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994, prohibiting the use of certain roads by vehicles and unauthorised pedestrians to facilitate the holding of the Pride in Leeds Parade & Event on Sunday 4 August 2019.

The event will require the closure of certain roads and road junctions in Leeds City Centre.

The effect of the Order is that no unauthorised person shall proceed or cause any vehicle to proceed in the length(s) of roads to be closed specified in the Schedule below (whilst the road closures are in place) PROVIDED THAT such prohibition shall not extend to vehicles being used in connection with the event.

The Order will come into effect at 18:00 hours on Saturday 3 August 2019 in respect of parking restrictions referred to below. All other with the other restrictions coming into force on Sunday 4 August 2019 at the various times stated in the Schedule here to.  

The roads to be closed are set out in the Schedule. Where necessary local diversions will be in operation and will be signed as appropriate.  

The Order will not at any time prevent access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which the Order relates, or to any premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from, any such road.

Lower Briggate

Roads to be closed from 09:00 hours until 15:30 hours on Sunday 4 August 2019

for the Parade build up.

Portland Crescent

Cookridge Street

Great George Street to Woodhouse Lane

Parade Route.

The Parade will commence on the east side of Millennium Square and proceed in a southerly direction down Cookridge Street, turning left onto The Headrow, then turning right onto Vicar Lane and turning left onto Kirkgate/New York Street/York Street, turning right into Duke Street, turning right into Kirkgate and onto High Court, before continuing onto The Calls where the Parade will terminate.

 

Closure points from 13:45 hours to 16:15 hours on Sunday 4 August 2019 to facilitate the Parade route.
